On Somvati Amavasya Protect yourself from Evil Forces

Monday 4th July marks Amavasya, new moon day. An Amavasya falling on Monday has a special significance. It is believed that a fast on this particular Amavasya would ward off widow-hood in women and ensure bearing of progeny. It is also believed that all desires could be fulfilled if one fasts on this Amavasya.

At Kismatkarma we understand that it may not be possible to observe a fast and follow all rituals as per the Vedas, for this reason we have conducted special meditations. These meditations will be conducted by Dr Arti Jangra on your behalf.

In the olden days people would always fast on Amavasya. It is said that if one can fast on an Amavasya that is on a Monday then all their wishes will be fulfilled. After fasting one worship Lord
Shiva.

In most beliefs Amavasya is not auspicious. Tantra and black magic is mostly performed on an Amavasya day. The evil spirits are free on this day, therefore, black magic can be stronger when done in Amavasya.

Diwali is considered to be the most inauspicious Amavasya. This is exactly why Gods are worshipped and lights are lit all across the house so that no evil spirit can enter the house. This is also the reason why goddess Kali is worshiped on this day in some parts of the country as Goddess Kali has the power to destroy all the evil.

No auspicious work is ever done on Amavasya. The Amavasya is considered not auspicious this is exactly why if there is an Amavasya falling on a Wednesday then the puja is done for kal sharpa dosha. This puja helps to get rid of the kal sharpa dosha that anyone is suffering from. This puja is good and can control the Rahu it is powerful enough to reduce the impact of the kal sharpa dosha by seventy percent.

No one would work on this day as they were considered not auspicious. Many elders will advise you not to start a journey on an Amavasya day. The logic could have been that on Amavasya as there is no light it would be difficult to reach the destination. Perhaps if this was the logic then it makes sense to travel now in Amavasya too. Nevertheless, many people still prefer not to travel on Amavasya.

Shani Jayanti

Shani Jayanti is believed to be the day of appearance of Lord Shani in Earth. In 2016 this day falls on 5th June. In Maharashtra, Gujrat and Goa it is celebrated on 4th June 2016.

As per 'Kaagol Shastra', the distance of Shani from the earth is 9 crore miles. Its radius is about one billion and 82 crore and 60 lakh kilometers. And its gravitational force is 95 times higher than that of the earth. Planet Shani takes 19 years to complete one revolution around the Sun. The astronauts have viewed the Shani's colours as beautiful, strong, influencing and eye-catching. It has twenty two satellites in its ring.
Shani's gravitational power is more than that of the Earth's. Therefore, when we think good or bad thoughts and make plans, they reach Shani by the strength of his power. In astrological terms, the bad influence is considered as unlucky. But the result of good deeds will be good. Therefore, we must understand God Shani as a friend and not as foe. And for bad deeds, he is Sade Saathi, disaster and an enemy.
As regards the birth of Shani, there are different stories. Foremost and accepted is the one in the ancient 'Scanda Poorana' of Kasi Khanda which is as follows.
God Soorya was married to Daksha Kanya Sadnya. Sadnya could not tolerate the radiance of God Surya. She used to feel that by doing penance she could increase her brilliance. Or, by the power of her penance, she could diminish the glare of God Surya. But for God Surya, she was a spouse worshipping wife. From God Surya, she had three children. One was Vaivastahva Manu. The second was Yama Raj. And the third was Yamuna. Sadnya loved her children very much. But, she was very upset with the radiance of God Surya. One day, she thought that she would separate from God Surya, go to her parents' home and undertake great penance. And if there was opposition, she would go far away to a lonely and undertake great penance.
By strength of her penance, Sadnya created a 'Chaya' (shadow) of herself and named her Suvarna. And, and then the shadow of herself became Suvarna. After handing over the children to Chaya, Sadnya told her that Chaya would thereafter play the role of womanhood and nurse her three children. She told her if any problem arose, she should call her and she would come rushing to her. But she cautioned her that she must remember that she was Chaya, not Sadnya, and nobody should know this difference.
Sadnya hander over her responsibilities to Chaya and went away to her parents' place. She went home and told her father that she could not stand the radiance of God Surya. And therefore, without telling her husband she had come away. Listening to this, her father scolded her very much and told her that without being called, if the daughter returns home, both her and her father would be cursed. He told her to go back to her home immediately. Then, Saudnya began to worry that if she went back, what would happen to the responsibilities which she had given to Chaya. Where would Chaya go? And their secret would be exposed. So, Sadnya went to the dense jungles in Uttar Kurukshetra and took repose there.
She was fearful of her safety in the jungle because of her youthfulness and beauty. And she changed her form into that of a mare so that none could recognize her and started her penance. Elsewhere, the union of God Surya and Chaya begot three children. God Surya and Chaya were happy with each other. Surya never doubted anything. The children of Chaya were Manu, God Shani and Putri Bhadra (Tapti).
As per the second story, the creation of God Shani was the result of Maharishi Kashyap's great 'yagna'. When God Shani was in the womb of Chaya, Shiv Bhaktini Chaya was so engrossed in penance of God Shiva that she did not care for her food even. She prayed so intensely during her penance that the prayers had a profound influence on the child in her womb. As a result of such a great penance of Chaya, without food and shade in the blazing sun, the complexion of God Shani became black. When God Shani was born, Surya was surprised to see his dark complexion. He began to doubt Chaya. He insulted Chaya by saying that this was not his son.
From birth itself, God Shani had inherited the great powers of his mother's penance. He saw that his father was insulting his mother. He saw his father with a cruel gaze. As a result his father's body was charred black. The horses of God Surya's chariot stopped. The chariot would not move. Worried, God Surya called out to God Shiva. God Shiva advised God Surya and explained to him about what had happened. That is, because of him the respect of mother and child had been tarnished and insulted. God Surya accepted his fault and apologized. And regained his earlier glorious looks and the power of his chariot's horses. Since then, God Shani became a good son to his father and mother and an ardent disciple of God Shiva.

Ganga Saptami May 12 2016

Divine Devi Blessings

Ganga Saptami day is dedicated to Goddess Ganga. This day is also known as Ganga Jayanti as Ganga was reborn on this day.

Request your Divine Devi  blessings token on this auspicious day

According to Hindu Mythology Divine Devi Ganga was descended to the Earth on Ganga Dussehra day. When mighty Ganga was descended to the Earth, Lord Shiva took her in His hairs to break Ganga's descent to avoid Ganga sweeping the whole Earth away. Later Lord Shiva released Ganga so that she can accomplish her mission to purge the cursed souls of Bhagiratha's ancestors.

While on her way to kingdom of Bhagiratha, her mighty flow and gushing turbulent water destroyed the Ashram of sage Jahnu. This angered Sage Jahnu and he drank up all of Ganga's water. Upon this, Bhagiratha and the Gods prayed to Rishi Jahnu to release Divine Devi Ganga so that she could proceed on her mission. Pleased with prayers Jahnu released Divine Devi Ganga from his ear.

According to legends Jahnu Rishi released Divine Devi Ganga from his ear on Saptami of Vaishakha Shukla Paksha. Because of this legend this day is also known as Jahnu Saptami. Divine Devi Ganga is also known as Jahnavi, the daughter of Rishi Jahnu.

On Ganga Saptami devotees worship Goddess Ganga and take bath in Ganges. Taking bath in Ganges on Ganga Saptami day is considered highly auspicious. At Kismatkarma we understand this is not possible for everyone, so Dr Arti Will be holding special medittions. Request your Divine Devi  blessings token.

The Leap of Faith

Put a frog into a vessel fill with water and start heating the water. As the temperature of the water begins to rise, the frog adjust its body temperature accordingly. The frog keeps adjusting its body temperature with the increasing temperature of the water. Just when the water is about to reach boiling point, the frog cannot adjust anymore.

At this point the frog decides to jump out. The frog tries to jump but it is unable to do so because it has lost all its strength in adjusting with the rising water temperature. Very soon the frog dies.

What killed the frog?
Think about it!

I know many of us will say the boiling water. But the truth about what killed the frog was its own inability to decide when to jump out.

We all need to adjust with people & situations, but we need to be sure when we need to adjust & when we need to move on. There are times when we need to face the situation and take appropriate actions.

If we allow people to exploit us physically, emotionally, financially, spiritually or mentally they will continue to do so.

Let us decide when to jump!

Let's jump while we still have the strength.

Akshay Tritiya

Akshay Tritiya, also known as Akha Teej, is celebrated on the third day of Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of the vedic month of Vaisakha.

Akshaya Tritiya and Parashurama Jayanti occurs on the same day. Parshurama Jayanti is observed as the birthday of Lord Parashurama, sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

Akshaya means 'never diminishing', and same is Akshaya Tritiya's significance in Hindu Calendar. If we go by the lunar calendars of Jains and Hindus, each year witnesses either an addition or missing out of some days (Tithi). But, the day of Akshaya Tritiya or Akha Teej is never absent from the lunar calendar.

Kismatkarma will conduct the following meditations as part of the Akshaya Tritya Meditations:

Kismatkarma Gaja Meditation is also known as Kismatkarma Gaja Dhanakarshana Meditation. Gaja means 'elephant', and hence, in this meditation, elephants are our focus for the sustenance of wealth and prosperity in our lives.

Ashwa (horse) is considered to be the disciple of Mars (planet), which represents command and energy. On the day of Akshay Tritiya, Ashwa Meditation is performed to bring home positivity and mental peace.

Gou (cow) is the symbol of kindness, love and warmth; hence, Gou or cow is our focus on the day of Akshay Tritiya.

Mahalakshmi Meditation is also performed on this day. Maa Sundara Mahalakshmi is our focus on Akshaya Tritiya, exhibiting the 64 Avatars of Goddess Lakshmi. Dr Arti Jangra conducts Mahalakshmi meditation and we chant 1008 names of Lakshmi Maa.

Goddess Mahalakshmi is considered to be associated with wealth and prosperity. Hence, the day of Akshay Tritiya, signify a never ending good fortune of prosperity and well-being.
Akshaya Tritiya is also known as Parashuram Jayanti
As per the Puranas, Parashuram was born at Renuka Tirth, as Lord Vishnu's sixth Avatar (incarnation). He was named as Ramabhadra, but after a significant occurrence, he got the epithet of Parashuram.

The legend suggests...

Ramabhadra was an ardent follower of Lord Shiva. Considering his perpetual dedication, Lord Shiva was pleased and gifted him with a divine responsibility to liberate Mother Goddess from demons. He was presented divine weapons by Shiva that included an axe-shaped weapon, Parashu. This altered his name from Rama to Parashurama (Rama with axe).  Akshaya Tritiya is observed as the day when Parashurama was born.

This day marks the commencement of Satya Yuga (Golden Age). It is also believed that Ved Vyasa started writing Mahabharata along with Ganesha on the day of Akshaya Tritiya.

While on exile, Pandavas were gifted 'Akshay Patra' by Lord Krishna, the bowl of food that would never go empty. This was the day of Akshay Tritiya or Akha Teej.
This legend is believed to be one of the most significant ones, associated with the celebration of Akshaya Tritiya. Lord Krishna had a poor Brahmin friend, Sudama. Once, on the day of Akshaya Tritiya, Krishna got visited by Sudama. The purpose for his visit was to ask for some financial help from Krishna.

Akshaya Tritiya legend owes to the story of Krishna-Sudama.Sudama was welcomed in a grand fashion by his friend, which embarrassed him even more. Though he was treated with benevolence, Sudama was ashamed of not being capable to present his friend anything, but some Poha (beaten rice). Krishna did not care to mend his attitude toward the bond of friendship and relished the Poha gifted by his dear friend.

Being overwhelmed by the treatment, Sudama could not ask for anything more from Krishna. Hence, he returned home empty handed. On his return, Sudama found his hut transformed into an abode of royalty and everything appeared grand. It was a boon by Lord Krishna that Sudama attained much more than financial help. Since then, the day is celebrated as Akshaya Tritiya
