Can we control our thoughts and empty our minds?

Can we control our thoughts and empty our minds?

Can we control our thoughts and empty our minds?
Our main problem isn’t thinking, but rather that we don’t know how to STOP thinking.
We allow our minds to host a constant stream of thoughts, believing that we can’t make it stop. Our minds are in charge, a constant buzzing where we have no control over what we receive and from where. If we do anything with these thoughts, it only serves to multiply these thoughts. If we try not to think about something, the more we think about it – it becomes a part of our consciousness.
Our thoughts can be our best friends or our worst enemies. Our ability to reflect on the past often leads to regrets, whilst our ability to imagine the future often leads to fear. When we are living constantly in our minds, it can be torturous for us. There is no release. Our minds are wonderful things if we can learn how to open and close them when we want to.
The idea of emptying your mind of thought can be frightening but only because we mistakenly believe that we ARE our thoughts.
The reason that our thought processes have become continuously ‘on’ is that we have identified ourselves with things that we are not – our bodies, things and people around us, ideas and beliefs. We need to unidentify with everything in our lives and realise that thought is a conscious process. We can choose to think when we want to think, otherwise we can empty our minds.
It is time to learn to manage the mind, to release what’s taking precious space in your mind and heart that’s not serving you. Until then, how we experience life will be a reflection of our thoughts. If we think negatively, we are likely to see the world around us as a frightening, unfriendly place. We project our negative emotions onto the world. They say that if you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
An empty mind is one that lives in the present moment, not dwelling on the same thoughts, free from judgement.  It is peaceful and is receptive to new ideas and input from higher sources.
So how can we learn to break the cycle of constant thinking and worrying and empty our minds?
Meditation is the key to calming an overactive mind. All it takes is stillness and willingness.
For a beginner, the best way is find a quiet place, close your eyes and focus on your breathing for 10 to 20 minutes. Set a timer so you don’t keep checking your watch. Some people prefer to repeat mantras to themselves, be sure to pick one that resonates with you. You are likely to lose focus and your mind will wander but don’t give up, accept this as part of the process. You will start to feel calmer and open to new thoughts, bringing you clarity, peace and perspective. The important things is to keep doing it daily.
Another method used to clear your mind when you are overloaded with thoughts is free writing. Using a computer or pen or paper, write down everything that you are feeling at that moment. Let it all out – no one else will see it or judge you for it – there is no need for explanations or analysis. Keep going until you feel there is nothing more to say and then shred your paper or delete your typing. Remember to smile.
Physical activity, whatever exercise you choose, is another great way to release negativity and stuck energy and energise your mind, body and soul. Be sure to visualise all your unwanted thoughts leaving as you exhale.
When you learn to empty your mind, you let go of the thoughts and beliefs that are holding you back. You learn to be the observer of your mind, cultivating the space between thoughts, the place of pure consciousness. Empty your mind and you can open yourself up to higher knowledge and wisdom.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow

Tomorrow Never Comes
Don’t put off until tomorrow what can be done today, because tomorrow never comes.
As the saying goes: “yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, that’s why they call it the present”. The problem is we have all become guilty of procrastinating and, as a result, not living life fully and presently. We spend our days putting all our energies into planning for tomorrow rather than experiencing today. And tomorrow never comes. Tomorrow is just your imagination, whilst yesterday is only your memory.
It is essential to realise that what happens tomorrow is created today with the right actions, thoughts and emotions. If you wish something to happen tomorrow, you have to create the right atmosphere today to enable it to happen. For example, someone who keeps putting off eating healthily until tomorrow cannot expect to be successful. It is necessary to create the right circumstances today for this to happen and to create the right resolve in your mind, for example, by removing all junk food from your house, going to the supermarket to buy all new fresh ingredients, meal planning for the following day and being determined to succeed. If you wake up late, with nothing in your house but a huge chocolate cake, with no time or ingredients to make a healthy packed lunch, you have set yourself up for failure. You are bound to utter the words, ‘I’ll start tomorrow”. The excuse of doing something tomorrow is a trick we use to ease our ego’s guilt at not doing it today. Once you start doing the necessary preparations, begin to start eating healthily and start reaping the rewards by feeling less lethargic, for example, after a few days, you wont even need to remind yourself to do all those things. It will become habit. After all, tomorrow is created today!
Unfortunately, at times our behaviour can be reinforced when we perceive that we can still succeed for example, leaving revising for a test until the night before and still getting a good grade. We convince ourselves by the positive reward that we work better under pressure, therefore we continue to procrastinate. What we fail to realise, however, is that the progress has been made solely because you hadn’t any other choice. Your back was against the wall. Therefore, you have lost your freedom.
So what makes us procrastinate in the first place? Why do we all delay or postpone things which we could do today? Whilst laziness, disobedience, lack of motivation certainly can play a part, it is believed that fear plays a huge role in this.
We often find ourselves freezing with fear whenever we attempt to move forward or have a chance of achieving our dreams, subconsciously afraid of success and what that may bring, or due to fear of failure. We need to become aware of these fears and remind ourselves how much we can learn from our mistakes and failures – that in fact these can be very positive things. Once we look at failure in this new light, and start not to fear it so much, we can also learn to stop procrastinating. Our confidence plays a big part in this. We have to truly believe that we can achieve our goal. If we truly believed we could achieve it, then we wouldn’t put it off. We also have to stop judging ourselves and caring about what other people think. If something isn’t happening the way you want it to or believe it should, it is time to take the bull by the horns, get your confidence and inner power back and just do it!

Heard of the Lunar Effect?

Heard of the Lunar Effect?

THE LUNAR EFFECT
The lunar effect or lunar theory is the idea that there is a correlation between the cycles of the moon and human behaviour. This theory dates all the way back to mythology of ancient civilizations. It is believed that a full moon can be responsible for strange or even violent behaviour, throwing human activity, crime rates and childbirth out of kilter. In fact, doctors, nurses and midwives are known to brace themselves for especially busy and bizarre nights on a full moon.
It is scientifically agreed that the cycles of the moon and its gravitational pull regulate the ocean’s tides. It therefore makes sense that, given that human beings are made up of up to 75 percent water, we too may be influenced by these external factors. There are people who dismiss any links as coincidence or believe they have results reflecting conflicting results, however there is more and more scientific evidence and research coming forward in support of the lunar effect.
CRIME AND MURDER
Lunacy and lunatic stem from the word luna, which means moon in Latin. It is believed that people are more likely to show erratic behaviour during a full moon. In fact, in the 18th Century, if a murder was committed under a full moon, the murderer could plead ‘lunacy’ and get a reduced sentenced. Indeed, there are many reports which reveal a monthly peak in psychotic crimes including murder and arson during a full moon. It is suggested that those who are already psychologically unstable could be pushed over the edge by the biological tides from the moon.
BLEEDING
Some people believe you should avoid surgery during a full moon due to a higher risk of complications. A study in the Journal of the Florida Medical Association revealed that 82 percent of postoperative bleeding crises following 1000 tonsillectomies occurred near to the full moon.
Many also believe that a woman’s menstrual cycle is influenced by the cycle of the moon, as the length of the cycle is almost the same.
SLEEP DISTRUPTION
It has long been believed that the moon can affect our sleep patterns, with full moons resulting in sleepless nights. Although some believe this had a bigger effect before modern lighting, there have been many recent studies pointing to this being the case, where participants were unaware of the moon phase or time cues and their sleep showed obvious disruption. One theory is that this sleep deprivation, as a result of the full moon, could be the cause of the rise in other issues like psychological instability and crime.
LUNAR BABIES
Studies show that the full moon can cause a baby boom, with more women going into labour at this time. A study of 1000 births in a hospital in Japan showed that more babies were born when the moon was closest to the Earth, which is when the gravitational pull is at its strongest.
It is also reported that more babies are conceived on the waxing moon than on the waning moon which could help people planning to have a baby. German researcher W. Buehler also found that there was a significant dominance of male births during the waxing moon.
THE LUNAR EFFECT ON NATURE AND ANIMALS
It is hard to argue against the view that animals follow the moon’s time cues. Sea organisms, in particular, exhibit moon and tide related patterns of behaviour, using the moon’s phases as their clock for sleep and reproductive patterns.
In South America and Southeast Asia, they put their lunar cycle knowledge to economic use. The rainforest trees, which is where most of the world’s hardwood comes from, are only cut down on a waning moon near to a new moon. Harvesting during a full moon, when sap rises attracting deathwatch beetles, would devastate their crop and their finances.
SUNSPOTS
It is not only the moon that is believed to produce human cycles. The sun, and in particular sunspots (dark patches which appear on the sun) which appear in 11 year cycles, also seem to have historically affected us here on earth. In 1930, during a sunspot peak, its radiation is believed to have result in changes to human blood serum. It also was held responsible for solar storms, radio interference during the war and altering the size of tree rings. Professor A. C. Tchyivsky has correlated the eleven-year cycle of peak sunspot periods with worldwide historical events such as wars, migrations and revolutions. It is believed that the planets surrounding the sun at the time of sunspot peaks, may play a large part. Today, many scientists believe the sunspot and planetary cycles are critical in the formation of our weather patterns and potentially also earthquakes
ASTROLOGY
Astrologers believe that planetary cycles can directly affect individual human events. In the 1960s, French psychologist and statistician Michel Gauquelin set out to scientifically prove that this could not be the case. His investigation looking at the birth charts of groups including athletes, doctors and bankers, found quite the opposite. His results showed that planetary positions do affect human disposition, talent, and direction.
Find out how KismatKarma can draw an accurate birth chart for you, showing the position of the sun, moon and other planets at exact time and location of your birth and learn how this affects your life:

Nine Goddess and Days of Navratri
Chaitra Navratri 2018 dates are lying from 18th March to 26th March. Nine Goddess are worshipped during Navratri festival and the name of those nine Goddess according to Navratri days are -
The first three sacred days of Navratri festival are dedicated to Goddess “Durga”, next three days are devoted to Goddess Laxmi and the final last three holy days are dedicated to Goddess Saraswati.
There are nine days of Navratri dedicated to the universal mother goddess Druga each year. In these days the story of Maa Durga are told and retold each night in dedication to her divine powers.
The story goes as follows:
There were two demons who were taking over the world and all that is good, their names were Madhu and Ketav, both brothers who were so powerful they set out to defeat the gods. They sought a war with the god Vishnu which lasted for five thousand years. Seeing that this was a lengthy war and clearly not a war that was moving in favour of the gods the Gods set out to pray to a power even higher than their own. They prayed to mother Durga, the Universal Goddess. In the form of pride she set upon the demons and they boastfully vowed to die from Vishnu on the condition that they will not be able to see water, earth or sky. Listening to this Vishnu was able to kill the demons by enlarging his own size so they could not see anything but him. Thus he defeated or Maa Durga was able to defeat the undefeatable demons.
Then came the rein of two other vicious demons Shumbh and Nishumbh, who brought wrath upon the earth once more. They were again slaying humans and the Gods felt their power threatened. The God prayed again to the higher power of Maa Durga who took form of a beautiful young maiden. She sat upon a Lion as her steed and set for the mountain. Dressed in the ornaments and weapons bestowed upon her from each of the Gods she went to ward with these Demons who wished to possess her for their own lust and ego. With little effort she created her own army from within her and slayed the demons along with their armies.
After the rein of the demon brothers the rein of Rakht-bhij came. This demon king was blessed with a boon from Lord Shiva that with each drop of blood that falls upon the earth another demon will rise in his place. As you can imagine this was a messy war, Maa Durga realised that each time she slayed this demon thousands would reappear in its place all as him with the same strengths and same boon affecting them all. This is when the Divine mother took the form of Goddess Kali. In her fearsome avatar she made herself so big that her tongue covered the earth whist she continued to fight along with her own army. No blood fell upon the earth as mother Kali consumed it. Thus the demon was defeated.
Alas another demon came soon after. Mahisasura was a demon who was able to transform himself to be in any form he wanted. The great Mother Durga with her army defeated this beastly, demon. She is the saviour of not only the humans but also of the gods, or what we believe is good in the world.
She is the one who is able to defeat all the demons that are so powerful they could be considered more or equally powerful to the Gods. This is a time when we pray to the power of the universe who is able to hold and create the good and bad and defeat all that is good and bad in the Universe. However, mother Durga adheres to the universal energy of Love. Thus she will always eliminate that which is not in the side of love.

RELATIONSHIPS: SEEKING HAPPINESS VS. EXPRESSING HAPPINESS

RELATIONSHIPS: SEEKING HAPPINESS VS. EXPRESSING HAPPINESS

RELATIONSHIPS: SEEKING HAPPINESS VS. EXPRESSING HAPPINESS
The relationships you build in your life can have a huge impact on your quality of life itself, so it is important to consider why we form these relationships in the first place and why many of these are unsustainable.
A ‘give and take’ mechanism is inherent in all relationships. We seek out someone to fulfil our different types of needs. This could be physical, emotional or financial, for example. As well as feeling the need to receive, we also experience the need to give.
But why do we seek out others to make ourselves feel better? It all comes down to the fact that we do not feel complete on our own. We believe that establishing ourselves in a good relationship will make us feel complete, otherwise we are incomplete. We are failing to understand that we are a complete entity on our own. The word ‘soul-mate’ is incorrectly used. The soul is limitless – it doesn’t need anyone else to fulfil it. These connections are of the mind, the body and our emotions.
That’s not to say that finding someone that you are emotionally and physically compatible with isn’t a wonderful thing, however the problem comes when we believe our entire happiness rests on these relationships. Relationships are built on expectations, and often impossible expectations at that - we need to understand the limitations and the pressures involved. When we are forming relationships with people based on their ability to fulfil our needs, to relieve our own inadequacies, we are in a situation which is almost impossible to sustain. What if the needs of one individual changes? What if someone else comes along who can fulfil your needs better? In a nutshell, the moment the needs we formed the relationship in order to fulfil are no longer fulfilled, the relationship will go bad. We need to be straight with ourselves, to realise that relationships can be a lovely addition, or decoration if you like, to our life journeys, but if you are willing to embrace it and know its beauty, you realise that our life process is full as it is.
The key here is to realise that for a relationship to be beautiful and successful we need to think of it not as a way of pursuing happiness for ourselves but instead as a way of sharing and expressing the happiness and joy we already have. You should not be trying to extract happiness from each other. So search your soul, explore your spirituality, embrace your uniqueness and find your own happiness. Then express the innate love and joy that has blossomed within you.
Accessing your inner wisdom and opening yourself up to this change is challenging at the best of times. Dr Arti offers a range of blessing and prayer tokens, asking the universe to send divine blessings your way. For more information on these services, visit http://www.kismatkarma.com/blessing-and-prayer-tokens/
